Cabazon
Nearby the city of Banning (5 miles east) is the small community of Cabazon. The Cabazon Dinosaur Park has been a popular roadside attraction for many years. Along with The Wheel Inn (torn down n 2014), the Cabazon Dinosaurs were featured in Pee Wee's Big Adventure and other movies. The Desert Hills Premium Outlets are extremely popular, especially on the the weekends. Morongo's Resort, Bowling Lanes, and Hadleys are all located in the Cabazon area.

The Cabazon Dinosaurs are long a long time iconic roadside attraction made famous when featured in Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure The Wheel Inn ( haunting grounds for "Large Marge" in the movie) has since been torn down, but the park has expanded. There are now more dinosaurs including a robotic dinosaur.tThere are activities for the kids like hunting for dinosaur egggs and suprises. While you can stop to view "Dinney" and "Mr. Rex" , the rest of the park is paid admission. The interior of Dinney is a gift shop.
Dinosaurs Historical Note
Created in the 1960s by Claude Bell, a theme park artist and sand sculptor, the Cabazon Dinosaurs were originally referred to as "Claude Bell's Dinosaurs" and intended to attract roadside customers to Bell's business, The Wheel Inn Cafe. ( atlasobscura.com )
Desert Hills Premium Outlets and Cabazon Outlets
Desert Hills Premium Outlets, the largest collection of luxury stores in California is located in Cabazon, just 5 minutes from Banning. The smaller Cabazon Outlets are just east of Desert Hills . The Outlets attract hundreds of customers daily, from as far away as Los Angeles and can be extremely crowded on weekends and holidays. they have recently remodeled and added many more stores including a foof court.

The Morongo Band of Mission Indians have done quite well with their New Gambling Resort, Casino and Spa. The original casino is now home to a bowling alley and bingo hall. The Travel Stop has the lowest gas prices in the area. Morongo bought Hadley's Fruit Orchard and built a new store next to the old one.
Hadley's Historical Note
Hadley's, a Southern California landmark, has been selling their goods since the 1960s. The store was a popular spot for movie stars from Palm Springs and many other loyal customers. Morongo bought the store in 1990 and built a new store, right next door in 2015.( hadleyfruitorchards.com )
